John Schnatter, founder of Papa John's Pizza, risked the wrath of shareholders by warning diners that it was unhealthy to eat more than two slices of pizza.
The blunder bears resemblance to the infamous comments by Gerald Ratner, the former chief executive of British jewellery company Ratners Group, in which he mocked his own products. The gaffe wiped £500million off the value of his business overnight as customers boycotted the chain.

Jamie Oliver's School Dinners Improve Exam Results
An independent study showed the performance of 11-year-old pupils eating Oliver's meals improved in science and English, while absenteeism due to ill-health fell by 15 per cent. Oliver launched his healthy eating campaign with Channel 4 in 2004.
Oliver, who is currently championing the British pork industry, said: "Even while doing the programme we could see the benefits to children's health: it made them calmer and therefore able to learn. The results are fantastic - it's the first time a proper study has been done into the positive effects of the Feed Me Better campaign. It strongly suggests we were right all along."

Brown Sugar Closes
Brown Sugar bistro, helmed by chef-owner Yuan Oeij, is no more - for now, at least. It shut its doors last Sunday when its venue, the StarDus Clubhouse in River Valley Road, closed.
Mr Oeij, 39, has been scouting for a new space for the two-year restaurant since early last year when he learnt of the clubhouse's impending closure but without success. He says: "Brown Sugar had a strong customer following. In the last few months, our business was doing very well despite the weak economic situation."
While Mr Oeij finds a new home for Brown Sugar, its kitchen team is training at fine-dining restaurant Prive at the Marina at Keppel Bay, where he is a director. The service team is working at the Prive Bakery Cafe.
